More Strange Skies at Daiichi

Strangely illuminated sky over Daiichi again today with very heavy "fog" hanging over the plant:

I am totally at a loss to explain this phenomenon. One thought is that the rising light is the moon, although I've never seen the moon 'RISE' like this over Daiichi and the description below of today's moon phase is not consistent with the observations of the light rising below:

TODAY - Thursday, July 14, 2016

The Moon today is in a Waxing Gibbous phase. This phase is when the moon is more than 50% illuminated but not yet a Full Moon. The phase lasts round 7 days with the moon becoming more illuminated each day until the Full Moon. During a Waxing Gibbous the moon will rise in the east in mid-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset. The moon is then visible though most of the night sky setting a few hour before sunrise. The word Gibbous first appeared in the 14th century and has it’s roots in the Latin word "gibbosus" meaning humpbacked.
Netc is showing highly elevated radiation levels near Tokyo. Yesterday Daiichi looked strangely foggy. The fog appeared strange because it seemed at times to come up in clumps from the buildings.

  1. I am speculating that what we see is the ionization of the atmosphere...
