Fukushima Steaming Today

Fukushima units 1, 2, and 3 are definitely issuing emissions. Unit 3 emissions appear worst (based on my blog readers' analyses).

You can see the emissions in this screenshot:

Notice the strange phenomenon identified in the top arrow. I've captured it here:

Notice how a clean line demarcates the gray smudge under "Incorporated 2014." I can see this same line in my screenshots from July 18, 2014. I haven't gone back further yet.

Might TEPCO have installed a filter to hide the emissions coming from, presumably, unit 1?

I don't understand the purpose of a filter given the highly visible steam emissions visible from what I now believe is unit 3 (rather than unit 4, which is less visible in the view). Unless, of course, unit 1 looks worse than unit 3 (unit 3 below):

Installing a filter seems absurd, but not dissimilar in tactic to other practices that have been employed by TEPCO and Japanese authorities to hide the extent of radiation risk posed by Fukushima. Japan's recent State Secrets Act is hardly subtle.
