Blatant Imperialism and the Spoils of War

Today (9/15) the WSJ has an article titled "Oil Firms' Battle in Iraq" p. C12

the first paragraph reads as follows:

"Iraq politics isn't for the faint-hearted. Yet the success of Tony Hayward's new oil venture, Genel PLC, hinges on Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government agreeing on how to control the oil spoils from Iraq's northern region"

"OIL SPOILS?" Well, at least for once, the WSJ is reporting accurately on the fact that natural resources in Iraq (and Afghanistan) are the "spoils" of war that are being seized by corporate interests with the consent of imperially approved "regional" and provisional governments.
